My dear friend,
This is a personal note and a request.
You would have heard of Fr. Stan Swamy passing on.
May he now rest in peace!
Two contrasting narratives on his death:
One, he was old and sick; he died of natural illness
Two, he was “murdered” by the powers that be.
Of course, the narrative you would take
Depends on how well you know the person of Stan.
Well, that is not the issue I want to talk to you about.
Issue is, worsening division among people, among us;
Increasing doubt, animosity
Inability to listen to each other.
Lack of Trust; Lack of Compassion.
So, here is my request to you as my friend:
REACH out, to at least ten more people,
Across all barriers of gender, caste, clan, religion
To share compassion; to listen
To build and strengthen friendships.
Look out particularly for the poor and needy
Every third person in India is needy.
Would you not respond to my request?
Thanks once again. I cherish your friendship!
