You hurt me,
I remain silent,
No words from me,
Just one or two, And
my spirit whispers, Silence is violence.
The next-door family:
The child is crying, wife is screaming,
I know it is ‘domestic violence’,
I remain silent, But
my spirit sighs, Silence is violence.
The village or city is dirty,
Waste dumped all around,
Services irregular and inefficient,
I remain silent, But
my spirit babbles, Silence is violence.
The nation is more undemocratic,
The poor are poorer and the rich richer,
Farmers are dying,
Medium and small businesses shut down,
Unemployment skyrocket(s),
‘Neros are playing violin’,
I am afraid and silent, But
my spirit murmurs, Silence is violence.
Nature is butchered,
‘Development of few’ consumes mother earth,
Earth is taking revenge:
I remain a spectator, But
my spirit rustles, Silence is violence.
Hey man, woman, child,
Go on your knees,
LISTEN, the Spirit is murmuring…
SILENCE is VIOLENCE.
