The Contagion

the contagion poem by mrinalini

In those times critical, the nature it seems has sent a signal
I have had enough!
You, whom I nurtured with care, the most precious of all my Creations,
Endowed with the best of gifts: the Intelligence,
Has been alluring me for many a generations
Under the façade of modernization.

It is now time to put an end to all your delusions
In your affairs, couldn’t you be a little more discreet
For, trust my dear is a two-way street.
This time you have gone way too far,
Crossing the line to a point of no return
And that is why now it has become a point of my concern.

Numb in your power filled stupor,
Conveniently you forgot to watch over the other.
How could you not see: To me, all creatures are equally dear?
To their plea, I can no more turn a deaf ear;
For this earth is not yours alone to devour.
Yes, I have had enough!

Its time now to put in some fear, call your Bluff!
It is my territory and I have come to reclaim
You only get to roll the dice;
It is I who decides: Who lives and whom to sacrifice!

Wake up and learn the lesson for this is the final call
You are not the only one, I am answerable to all
Live and let live is the principle,
If that is acceptable, be my guest and stay on…
Else – you know too well I have just unleashed a Contagion!!!
