Supposedly, we have our freedom
We live in a free country
But what is freedom?
Do we have freedom of press?
Why are our media houses sold out?
Why are reporters harassed and quieted?
Do we have freedom of religion?
Why are minority religions feeling petrified and persecuted?
Why do they find it difficult to eat prepare their own cultural foods?
Do we have freedom of speech?
Why are our politicians peddling us untruthful propaganda?
Why are they shutting us down when the truth is against them?
Do we have freedom of art?
Why do our writers flee our country fearing for their lives?
Why are books burnt down to support a political party’s ideologies?
Do we have freedom to reside and settle in any part of the territory of India?
Then why minorities are not given a place in majority localities?
Who created these localities without considering the Indian Constitution?
Is it freedom of religion now blocking freedom to reside in any part?
Do we have freedom to be born in another nation and come back here?
Why then are we harassed to get an Aadhar card?
Why then can we not simplify our process?
Who is left accountable?
Us.
Who does the government serve?
Us.
Then why is it that this feeling of suffocation is slithering around our necks?
Oh freedom, freedom where have thou vanished?
From reality into mere thoughts!

A good food from thought. The answer to all your questions starting with ‘Do’ is a solid ‘No’. Honestly, the government in power represents the mentality of it’s people and if you stand against it, then make sure your vote counts.
